Town Crier

Today's muse: Friday Flash 55

The rules: Write a story in 55 words. No more. No less.

And I liked the picture prompt he used, so I used it as well.

Town Crier

“That lavender lace wrap.” Jeremy Wilkinson’s tone was bland, as though he asked for a dozen penny nails.

To her credit, Mrs. Shaefer remained stone-faced as she wrapped the silk in delicate tissue. She knew perfectly well he wasn’t buying it for his wife.

The door hadn’t yet closed before she was whispering the tale.

Fantastic take on the pic I used.
Of course you know you don't have to use mine. But your take was GREAT!

For himself or a lady friend? Shall we ever know? Great 55.

G-Man: Thanks! I know I don't need to use your pic, but I really liked it. It reminded me so much of Freeman's Grocery in my home town, which sadly is no longer there. Ah, those days. Getting ratted out by the local gossip every Sunday morning. The old bat will probably be my saving grace.

Dr. FTSE: Ha! Good one! I did mean for it to be a mistress, but your take is soooo much better.

Brian Miller: Barn. He'll be in the barn. When his wife finds out, I don't think he'll be safe on the couch.

And that just about sums up what the gossip is like in small communities too.
Great 55, made me smile.
