My Bedroom

Today's muse: First 50 Words.

Write the first 50 words of your story, using the words my bedroom.

My Bedroom

I chose everything in my bedroom: paint, bedspread, bureau, carpet. I could escape and be alone in my bedroom. I listened to music, did homework, dreamed. It was a haven. It was safe.

Until a man I trusted—a family member—came in one night and stole it from me.

My faithful followers will know Miranda's story. New followers can start reading it here. I know I ended the series rather abruptly (and many readers expressed their disappointment). One of the reasons was because I hope to expand the series into a novel. The question is whether I should write it in first or third person. Either will be difficult, yet cathartic.

Yes...less is more...powerful writing...and I hear the echo of that room...do we ever stop trying to create that safe place...maybe it is inside...where we are safe and free...

@glnroz: So glad to be back. I would be lying if I said I am doing well, but I reckon I'm not doing too bad, either.
